SACRAMENTO-

Two brothers were found guilty of charges Wednesday stemming from a December 2010 gang shootout at a south Sacramento barbershop in which a young mother was killed in the crossfire.

Louis Mitchell was convicted of first-degree murder, four counts of assault with a firearm and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Lonnie Mitchell was convicted of the same charges as his brother, and was also found guilty of possession of an assault weapon.

The Mitchells were accused of killing 30-year-old Monique Nelson. Nelson died while shielding her 2-year-old son from the gunfire.

James Carney was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter Wednesday.

The fourth defendant, Larry Jones, was acquitted of all charges relating to the killing.

Lonnie Mitchell, Louis Mitchell and James Carney will be sentenced Sept. 19.
