As the temperature rises, cooling centers in several cities have opened to give residents relief from the heat. The following centers are open to the general public:

SACRAMENTO:

  • Rancho Cordova City Hall — 2729 Prospect Park Drive

  • Trinity Episcopal Cathedral –2620 Capitol Avenue, Sacramento
  • Salvation Army — 1200 North B Street, Sacramento
  • St. Marks United Methodist Church –2391 St. Marks Way, Sacramento

ROSEVILLE:

  • Downtown Library, 225 Taylor Street
    Extended hours, Open 10 am – 9 pm
  • Maidu Library, 1530 Maidu Drive
    Extended hours, Open 10 am – 9 pm
  • Martha Riley Community Library, 1501 Pleasant Grove Boulevard
    Extended hours, Open 10am – 9 pm

MODESTO:

  • Modesto Salvation Army is opening up the Berberian Homeless Shelter at 9th and D Streets from 12 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • The City of Modesto’s Water Division will open an outdoor cooling center at Graceda Park on Ninth Street from noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
