As the temperature rises, cooling centers in several cities have opened to give residents relief from the heat. The following centers are open to the general public:

MODESTO:
- Modesto Salvation Army is opening up the Berberian Homeless Shelter at 9th and D Streets from 12 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- The City of Modesto’s Water Division will open an outdoor cooling center at Graceda Park on Ninth Street from noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
