SACRAMENTO –

A man broke through a pharmacy’s two-inch glass window to steal medicine early Thursday morning in Sacramento, leaving behind a trail of purple syrup outside the store.

The owner of the pharmacy said three men came around 2 a.m. and one smashed the window, climbed in, and stole cough syrup.

The man appeared to have cut himself while climbing through the shattered window, leaving a trail of blood inside the store.

Investigators hope to use the blood sample along with surveillance video to identify the man.
