Three people are missing in Folsom Lake after a speed boat capsized Saturday

FOLSOM-

UPDATE: FOLSOM LAKE SEARCH EFFORTS CONTINUE

Sate Park police are searching for 3 missing people who were on a boat that capsized in Folsom Lake.

Police say a 40 foot speed boat capsized in a remote area of Folsom Lake at about 2:45 p.m. The boat has been recovered, but the 3 people who were on the boat are still unaccounted for, and police are still searching for them.

Search crews spent most of the day searching for those men from land, sea and air, as a CHP helicopter was brought in to aide the search.

Placer County Sheriff’s dive team was on standby for the first few hours due to choppy weather conditions, but entered the water to continue the search as soon as possible. Once they got in the water, though, they did not find anything.

State Park police do not know if the 3 missing people were wearing life jackets or not, and they have begun to contact family members.

Rescue crews stopped searching when the sun set, but they plan to be back at sunrise Sunday morning.
