SACRAMENTO-

Lane closures along Highway 50/Business 80 through Sacramento begin Monday, April 21 at 9 p.m. The construction is expected to last a few months, and will impact both directions of traffic.

Commuters who have to take Highway 50/Business 80 between the Highway 99 junction and the I-5 junction should plan ahead for detours.

Caltrans recommends the following alternatives:

FROM APRIL 22-MAY 21, PHASE 1

If traveling from Elk Grove to Rancho Cordova or Folsom: Use Highway 99 north to Highway 50 east; do not use I-5 north to Highway 50.

If traveling from Davis to Sacramento: Use I-80, then exit at I-5 south, Richards Boulevard or J Street.

If traveling from Davis or Natomas to Rancho Cordova or Folsom: Use I-80 east, above Sacramento, to Watt Avenue, then drive south and get on Business 80 heading west, then take the Highway 50 east exit.

FROM MAY 27-JUNE 25, PHASE 2

If traveling from Rancho Cordova/Folsom to Sacramento: Use Highway 50 to Business 80 north, exit at N or H Streets.

If traveling from Elk Grove to Sacramento: Use I-5 north to J Street; do not use Highway 99 to Highway 50.

If traveling from Rancho Cordova or Folsom to Natomas or Davis: Use Highway 50 to Business 80 north, exit at Watt Avenue, head north to I-80 west.
