WOODLAND –

Elijah Taylor, 21, was arrested after officials say he crashed a stolen truck into a front lawn in Woodland Thursday morning after a wild pursuit.

He crashed a gray chevy into a garden around 5 a.m. on the corner of Palomar and West Streets.

CHP says the chase started in Willows on I-5 and lasted about 40 miles. They were trying to pull him over for speeding.

“At one point he almost hit one of our patrol cars. Drove directly at a patrol car and missed it by a foot,” said CHP Spokesperson Brent Shultz.

CHP soon discovered the truck Taylor was driving was stolen.

After he crashed the car in Woodland, neighbors say he got out of the car, jumped a fence and disappeared.

CHP, Woodland Police, the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office and a West Sacramento K9 combed the area and found Taylor about two hours later. He was hiding in a toolshed on Casa de Linda and came out wounded.

Well the dog did find him. And he was warned to come out. He didn’t come out. And the dog bit him,” said Shultz.

CHP suspects drugs were involved.

Taylor was booked in Yolo County Jail.

The people who owned the home Taylor crashed his car in front of quickly moved forward Thursday morning. Tom and Kazu Ojima began shoveling the dirt and moving crushed flowers. They said they were grateful they were ok.

“We’re not hurt so that’s fine,” said Tom Ojima.
