SACRAMENTO-

Avoiding the cone zone of the extensive Fix 50 project is no joke.

“My chief of staff got off on the I Steet Bridge, took a half hour to get from I Street to the Capital,” State Legislature staffer Benny Bertagnini said.

Maneuvering the Fix 50 construction site is no joke, either, coming from Business 80 onto Highway 50. During rush hour traffic, it took FOX40 30 minutes to get around.

Traffic was bumper to bumper, as it likely will be for the duration of the two-month-long project.

There are signs up, alerting motorists to the Fix 50 project but none saying the speed limit is changed.

The 65-miles-per-hour speed limit could change as the project goes on. Highway Patrol and CalTrans looks at quick turns, fast maneuvers and worker safety issues to determine if motorists need to slow down.
