A mother behind bars and a father on the run after an infant is left alone at a truck stop.
Sunday evening, employees at a truck stop along El Centro Road, just north of downtown Sacramento, watched as a man and woman lingered nearby with a baby in a carrier. Then they both left, leaving the child alone.

Deputies arrived to find employees entertaining the six-week-old girl, and no sign of the parents. The child was taken to the hospital to be evaluated.
About 90 minutes later, Christina Reed returned to the truck stop and said the baby was her daughter. She was questioned and arrested for child endangerment.
The baby girl is now in protective custody.
