MARYSVILLE-
Construction on a home intended for a family of 12 in the Marysville area can resume, after some of Habitat for Humanity’s stolen tools were recovered.
More than $10,000 worth of tools had been taken from a trailer parked outside the charity’s Yuba-Sutter office in Marysville last weekend. The thieves made off with more than a dozen tool belts, power saws, pneumatic hammers, jack hammers, generators and other items.
Following FOX40’s story about the stolen items, officers talked to a kid who thought he had seen them. He led the officers to a levee area where they found some of the Habitat for Humanity’s tools.
None of the larger items and power tools were recovered, but the tools they did find are enough to at least keep the construction project going.
The tools were marked with numbers preceded by a “C” or and “E” and are painted with markings in green or yellow. The group has gotten pledges of support from community members and businesses, but those tools or donations have yet to materialize. Meanwhile the projects are moving slowly with volunteers using what tools are remaining.
