SACRAMENTO-

A series of mug shots show off the many faces of Michael Williams.

Right now he’s on the run, wanted in the Sacramento stabbing death of his 48-year-old wife Tanganyika.

But, before Sacramento Police circulated their picture of their  51-year-old suspect, several mugshots were on file in Oklahoma.

FOX40 has learned that Williams was released from prison there  in 2005, after serving 13 years for shooting with intent to kill and assault with a deadly weapon in the highest degree.

His estranged wife at the time called for her mother to help when he tried to attack her.

His mother-in-law survived being shot during that fight.

“(A) story I heard from him was that some guys attacked him and he basically had to defend himself.  And to hear that he attacked somebody else’s mom that was coming to get her and take her away from him because she said he was being abusive. It was shocking,” David Williams Jr., Tanganyika’s son, told FOX40..

Tanganyika’s oldest son shares a last name with, but is not related to the man now suspected of brutalizing his mother and dumping her partially-clothed body in the Meadowview neighborhood where she’d come to visit friends.

Her body was discovered on the morning of July 8.

Tangyanika had ordered Michael out of their home about two months before she was killed.

Her loved ones say he’d grown verbally and physically abusive.

She’d announced she was going to get a divorce the day before the stabbing.

“It’s rough sitting there at home, feeling like I’m helpless and I can’t do anything,” her son said.

Tanganyika had had her own legal troubles with check fraud, burglary and drugs, but was in recovery and reportedly had helped others as an addiction counselor.

The 48-year-old mother of four was expecting the birth of her fourth grandchild any day when she was killed.

“That’s what hurts a lot, is the fact I didn’t know the real story,” Williams Jr. said. “I would have said something to to try and warn her.”

Sacramento Police have fielded many tips about Michael Williams’ location, but none of them have panned out.

He is 5-feet-7-inches, approximately 220 pounds with brown eyes. His hair is slightly longer than in his latest mug shot.

If you have any information that can help get him off the streets, Sacramento Police want to hear from you.
