FOLSOM-

A family member of one of the four men still missing from yesterday’s boating accident at Folsom Lake says rescue crews aren’t doing enough to save the vimctims.

“More divers, whatever, more resources, better technology, but they have to make that call. That’s what I’m asking them to do. Because so far, they haven’t been able to get the job done,” said Frank Velasquez.

Velasquez told FOX40 his brother Jerry Jacobs, 54, was in the speed boat when it capsized Saturday before 2 in the afternoon. He believes Jacobs is dead.

“I don’t want them to take unnecessary risks but I think there’s still plenty of time to find him,” said Velasquez.

Sunday at 2 in the afternoon, rescue crews called off their search for the 4 missing men. They said strong winds and low visibility in the water made the search ineffective.

“We do have the vessel. We have the vessel in our yard It is part of the investigation,” said State Parks Sergeant Barry Smith.

Smith said the speed boat did have exterior damage, but was unable to elaborate. They plan to resume their search Monday morning.

“We’ll continue diving, searching the area as long as it takes to find them,” said Smith.

“I was surprised they’d go out on a day like yesterday. Conditions were really abysmal. Too much wind, low lake, in a go fast boat,” said Velasquez.

Velasquez believes his brother’s friends were driving the boat too fast and hit something on the bottom of the lake.

“He’s my little brother and it’s my job to take care of him. So whatever I need to do, I’ll do,” said Velasquez.
