A patient who showed symptoms of the Ebola virus and was being cared for at UC Davis Medical Center has tested negative for the illness.
UPDATE: A second person is being tested for Ebola in Sacramento County
The patient had exhibited symptoms of Ebola, and had a history of travel to countries with active Ebola cases, according to state and local health officials.
The person first went to Mercy General Hospital in East Sac Thursday morning, then was transported to UC Davis Medical Center by specialized ambulance. UC Davis’ facility was one of five designated by state health officials to handle patients with dangerous infectious diseases.
The test was done by Sacramento County Public Health Laboratory, and the results came back Thursday night.
“The patient remains in good condition and we will continue to provide ongoing medical care,” J. Douglas Kirk, Chief Medical Officer at UC Davis Medical Center, said in a press release Friday morning.
