YOLO COUNTY-
A Native American tribe in Yolo County paid for national airtime during Tuesday’s NBA Finals game, to protest the Washington Redskins.
The NFL team has been a subject of the “Change the Mascot” movement, which says the “Redskins” name is offensive to Native Americans.
The 30-second spot, which was paid for by the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation, aired in Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas New York and Washington, D.C. A longer, 2-minute version was posted to YouTube and can be viewed above.
In another video posted by the tribe, Chairman Marshall McKay says the name is as offensive as the N-word.
Redskins owner Daniel Snyder refuses to change the name.
